About Us

The PCMI was founded in the United States in 1967. Quickly added to the membership list were companies from England, Germany and Japan. This was the beginning of what is now a truly an International organization. Today we have members in 20 countries on 6 continents.

There are now members in Australia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, England, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Denmark, Finland, The Netherlands, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland, and The United States. Member companies have recently expanded operations into China and Malaysia.

The majority of these member companies are classified as "regular" members. These are companies that manufacture parts for resale using the Photo Chemical Machining process. Most of these employ less than 50 people.

The PCMI is helping these companies grow through our technical sessions and the articles that appear in the PCMI Journal. Technical sessions are held in the US as well as Europe. The Journal is published quarterly and contains papers delivered at these sessions as well as articles of common interest drawn from other sources. All members are urged to submit articles for publication.

To keep more active on a regional basis, PCMI has active establlished Chapters in Europe, New England (US) and Southern California (US). PCMI will be introducing a new Chapter in Asia when the 2008 Spring International Conference is held in Hong Kong in March 2008.

Membership within PCMI is categorized as follows: Regular Membership (RE); Allied Membership (AL); Associate Membership (AS), Technical Liaison Membership (TL); Senior Membership (SM); and Honorary Membership (HM).  Representatives from all companies serve on various committees and are eligible to serve as an Officer or as a member of the Board of Directors.
